ROD ANTON & U-ROY enregistrent ensemble, il y a quelques années, cette combinaison sous forme de Dubplate pour Positive Irie Sound. Le morceau fait aujourd’hui peau neuve avec cette instru fraichement produite par Gabriel Bouillon au Soul Nurse Studio. Il refond le riddim, assure l’enregistrement ainsi que le mixage de la version chantée, il joue aussi la guitare, la basse et pose les choeurs. La batterie est signée François Lattouf, batteur des Ligerians. Pour les claviers, Gabriel a fait appel à Cédric Piromalli qui nous livre ici un chorus de Fender Rhodes à faire pâlir les plus grands.
Reprise du célèbre morceau des Wailers « Soul Rebel », succès de 1970 qui avait déjà été décliné par U-Roy en 1976 avec son Deejay style sur la reprise des Gladiators, ce nouveau « Natty Rebel » revient plus entêtant que jamais.
Art-X (ODG) revisite le morceau avec sa version melodica et les versions Dub sont réalisées par Bongo Ben & Natty Bass (ROOTS RAID).

Rod Anton & Daddy U-Roy come together for this maxi single with a new cover of the original Wailers’ song « Soul Rebel » (1970). Recorded as a dubplate combination for Positive Irie Sound some years ago, the track is based on Marley’s lyrics and melody sung by Rod and U-Roy’s original toasting. This cover is one of U-Roy’s most famous. The first version had been released in 1976 with The Gladiators singing Marley’s vocals. Now this brand new version is available on a fresh riddim produced by Gabriel Bouillon at his Soul Nurse recording studio. He played the guitar, the bass, sang backing vocals, recorded Cedric Piromalli on Fender Rhodes, The Ligerians’ Drumer François Lattouf on Drums and mixed the main track.The Melodica version is played by Art-X (ODG) and the two other Dub versions are mixed by Bongo Ben and Natty Bass (ROOTS RAID). This maxi single is a real dancing bomb offered to you as a bridge between two generations of Reggae artists: Rod Anton, the upcoming Roots singer and Daddy U-Roy, the original Godfather! Enjoy!
